FTC & State AG Investigations

For the past several years, the Federal Trade Commission and state attorney general’s have been aggressively scrutinizing companies’ online activities and investigating whether state and federal consumer protection laws have been violated. Our attorneys include a former federal prosecutor and lead attorney for the Texas Attorney General’s cybercrime division as well as the former general counsel for a large online ad network. The firm is thus well-equipped to handle FTC and attorney general investigations, CID’s, subpoena responses, and regulatory enforcement actions.

We represent companies and individuals who have been targeted by the FTC and state attorney general offices. Our depth of experience in this area is evidenced by the fact that we defended the first Texas cases brought under the CAN-SPAM Act and the Texas Consumer Protection Against Computer Spyware Act. We leverage our experience and relationships to address regulators’ concerns, negotiate favorable settlements and, when necessary, defend against regulatory enforcement actions.
